TV and cinema films are also hardly imaginable without the use of digital media. In the meantime, computer-animated cartoons as well as new digital cinema 3D technologies are quite a matter of course for us to expand our previous viewing habits. While in the print sector it is now the case that no image is published without a prior digital general revision, the demand for high-quality videos on the Internet is also increasing immensely and despite all this progress, we are only at the beginning of a development.

Advertising agencies, television broadcasters, film production companies, Internet service providers, game and edutainment developers and many other areas of the digital media industry ensure a continuous demand for our comprehensively trained all-round talents.
The graduates will find a wide range of jobs on the job market. Classic employers are advertising agencies, television stations, film production companies, internet service providers, games and edutainment developers. Graduates of the course now work internationally as creative directors, art directors, supervisors, technical directors, animators, character designers, illustrators, storyboarders or as independent agency managers. Their CVs feature employers such as Weta digital, Digital Domain, Moving Picture Company, Cinecite, Double Negative, Ambient Entertainment, Scanline, Ubisoft, EA (Electronic Arts), Goodgame Studios, etc.

Hannover University of Applied Sciences maintains numerous partnerships with universities abroad. Semesters abroad are expressly supported and funded with grants. The course works closely with the Animation Institute of the Chinese University in Qingdao and with the CPUT in Cape Town.

During their studies, the students complete a one-semester internship. Joint projects with companies from the private sector and ongoing contact with experts from the field accompany the students throughout their studies. As part of their thesis, the students have to work on a task of their own choice from the field of communication and media management and apply their accumulated knowledge.

The Media Design course prepares students to be able to assert themselves successfully in this dynamic market. In the Design Center you will learn conceptual methods for planning and implementing media projects as well as in-depth and complex specialist knowledge of film, animation/VFX and games. The lectures, seminars and projects focus on: design and media theory, animation/VFX, film, games, visual conception and storyboards, production planning, post-production and visual effects & compositing. Modern equipment such as an HDTV-capable television studio, Blackmagic film cameras, Vicon motion capture, rapid prototyping, 3D laser scanners, 3D and interaction laboratories as well as software products such as Maya, MAX, NUKE, AVID and the Adobe Creative Suite are available for this purpose.
The budding media designers work in a project and team-oriented manner. Media productions are team projects that have to be organised, calculated, logistically planned and controlled. The students gain the required specialist knowledge through theoretical teaching and solution-oriented projects with practical partners.
Professors, technical staff and tutors are available to assist students with all practical tasks. They demand and promote the social, cultural and personal skills of the students. Guest lectures and workshops by professionals from theory and practice complete the range of knowledge.
The media design course lasts eight semesters and includes a practical phase of at least 19 weeks and a bachelor's thesis at the end. The University of Hanover also offers a two-semester master's degree in design and media.
