Mental illnesses show the relatively highest growth rates among chronic illnesses. The corresponding offers of help have increasingly been covered by social pedagogues in the past few decades. Against this background, experienced professionals should be qualified by this continuing education master in such a way that they

• are up to the requirements in planning-controlling and in particularly knowledge- and science-based positions in the field of social health. These are e.g. planning, control and coordination up to management tasks. This applies in particular to those areas in which more in-depth knowledge and interface management are required or wherever complex problems exist on the part of the clientele.
Knowing and being able to apply specialized perspectives, models, theories and procedures of care, counseling and intervention that are close to the real world Particular emphasis is placed on the results of comparative counseling and therapy research.
• Able to cope with current professional requirements. These include crisis intervention, help for traumatized people and case and care management.

Part-time structure
The Mental Health master’s course is a continuing education, part-time course. It is divided into four study semesters plus one semester for the preparation of the master's thesis. The course is essentially composed of the following elements:

• Four 3-day (Thu to Sat) and one 4-day block course (Wed to Sat) (a total of 64 days of attendance)
per semester
• in the rooms of the further education center of the Munich University of Applied Sciences in Dachauer Straße 100a
• guided self-study (supported by e-learning units)
• Project work (= preliminary work for the master's thesis)
• final master's thesis

The course comprises six module groups with a total of 15 modularized study units. The modules ensure the integration of current and relevant disciplinary areas of knowledge and professional skills. They are based on a balanced relationship between practice-relevant theories and theory-based application competence.

The continuing education and part-time master’s course can be studied in 5 semesters in addition to a full-time job and consists of face-to-face studies in the form of block courses and phases of self-study.

Courses

There are four 3-day blocks (Thu to Sat) and one 4-day block (Wed to Sat) per semester in the rooms of the further education center of the Munich University of Applied Sciences at Dachauer Straße 100a.

Evaluation

The university provides the EvaSys software for surveys that serve the organizational and quality development of the Munich University of Applied Sciences. EvaSys is a web-based software for the evaluation of questionnaires as part of the quality management of educational institutions.

All courses of the master’s course are evaluated by the students using the EvaSys evaluation software and then evaluated in order to ensure continuous quality assurance and development. The evaluation is anonymous and therefore does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about specific persons.
