Just a few years have passed since the invention of the iPhone and iPad. These devices have fundamentally changed both private and business life. With these devices we write e-mails, listen to music, read books, take part in video conferences, watch movies, pass time by playing games, do route planning while driving or even surf the internet.
The lives of users and App developers have changed dramatically. Therefore, it is mandatory to adapt computer science study. This is the reason why Hof University introduced the degree of mobile computing.
So, if you are interested in developing apps and games for smartphones and tablets, or want to participate actively in the development of digital society, you should definitely enroll in this study program.

Учебный план программы обучения "Mobile Computing"
The Bachelor is divided into 2 semester basics, 2 semester core area, 2 semester deepening and specialization as well as one semester bachelor thesis and practice block.Although specific content such as Mobile User Interfaces, iOS and Android are being taught in the first few semesters, it is first and foremost about a basic understanding of computers in general, especially about mobile devices and their programming. For this purpose, semesters 1 + 2 teach object-oriented programming, databases and computer networks, as well as basic design rules.
In the core area (semesters 3 + 4) the software development will be deepened in three areas: web development (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript), smartphone programming (focusing on Android) and tablet computing (focus on iOS). As a result, students also gain a good overview of the different options and the necessary effort required to create apps on the respective platforms. Two design lectures and several internships with intermediate programming projects complete the core area.
In the semesters 5 + 6 the students can form their own specializations and put together their own study program from the wide range of elective modules. Possible specializations are offered by e.g. in the field of games, digital media or enterprise applications.
In the last semester, students complete a practice block at a company or affiliated institute for information systems (iisys) and write their bachelor thesis. Ideally, the practice project and the final thesis build on each other, so that the students can work on a comprehensive task and thereby implement the knowledge they have learned. After successfully passing the Bachelor's examination, the Hochschule Hof awards the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.).

Hof University of Applied SciencesComputer science basically has a cross-sectional character and thus significantly influences other knowledge disciplines. In particular, the influence on energy efficiency, economical use of resources and sustainability should be emphasized. Correspondingly, the content and work objectives of computer science are oriented towards the main objectives of the Hof University of Applied Sciences, including "Green Tech".
In order to bundle the research activities of the faculty, the Institute for Information Systems (iisys) was created as one of the first institutes at a university of applied sciences in Bavaria.
