Программа обучения Molecular Bioengineering

Программа обучения "Molecular Bioengineering" в Technische Universität Dresden

Molecular Bioengineering

The master's program offers a novel combination of biology, biochemistry, biophysics, materials science, medicine, bioinformatics and nanotechnology. It teaches the basics of biomedicine and bionanotechnology with two goals: on the one hand to be able to better characterize and understand complex molecular machines with the help of biological approaches and on the other hand by means of nanotechnology and bioinformatics technologies for application in the field of biomaterials and biomedicine to develop.

Описание программы обучения "Molecular Bioengineering"

In fact, in the 20th century, physics and biology have evolved to the atomic and molecular levels. In order to be able to accept and master the new technological challenges, research must follow this trend and move from micro to nanotechnology. At this level of spatial resolution, technology meets biology. The molecules in cells and in all life on earth are nanomachines encoded in a genetic language. Characterized by complex functionality on a very small scale, these nanomachines are characterized by greater efficiency with lower energy consumption and less environmental impact compared to all other known artificially created technologies. The goal is to be able to describe, use and manipulate or develop cellular machines.

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Molecular Bioengineering"

The dynamic development of modern life sciences and biotechnology creates a great need for qualified scientists in these areas. Appropriate positions in research institutions and in the biotechnological, pharmaceutical and software industries are open to graduates of the Molecular Bioengineering course.

The vast majority of our graduates go into research and start a doctorate after completing their master's degree.

Учебный план программы обучения "Molecular Bioengineering"

The modules of the first 3 semesters fall into 2 sub-areas: on the one hand biomedical and on the other hand technologically oriented modules. The biomedicine sub-area includes the subjects genomics and stem cell engineering, proteomics and chemistry with biomolecules. The bionanotechnology sub-area deals with bioinformatics, bionanotechnology and biomaterials, biophysics and cellular machines.

Additionally, in the second semester, students choose one of 2 specializations: Biomedicine or Technology. In a workshop on Public and Economic Aspects of Bioengineering, the students learn about ethical and legal issues, aspects of intellectual property/patents and economic issues when founding a biotechnological start-up.

Half of the third semester consists of a laboratory project. The fourth semester is used to prepare the master's thesis.

Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB)
    Technische Universität Dresden

The Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB) focuses on interdisciplinary research and teaching in the life sciences. As a central unit of TU Dresden, the CMCB combines the interdisciplinary institutes B CUBE, BIOTEC and CRTD, and has close links to multiple schools and faculties at TU Dresden. The CMCB aims at creating synergies among intra- and extramural institutes in Dresden to provide an internationally oriented academic environment with cutting-edge research and innovative teaching programs at all levels. State-of-the-art technologies are made available to the TU Dresden campus as well as to DRESDEN-concept partners via the CMCB Technology Platform, which consists of a wide range of high-end core facilities, and innovative discoveries will be developed further towards commercial applications. Administrative support is provided to all CMCB research groups by centralized service units, which act as interfaces to the central administration of TU Dresden.
