Psychology uses a variety of research methods to study people's experiences and behavior in connection with mental and neuronal processes as well as social and developmental processes, depending on internal and external factors. The course also includes scientific and mathematical-statistical sub-disciplines. As an empirical science, its goal is to describe, explain, predict and change psychological processes and manifestations (e.g. in psychotherapy). Modern psychology is a life science with many connections with its neighboring disciplines and cannot be assigned solely to the humanities, social sciences or natural sciences.

Bachelor graduates have scientific knowledge and practical skills that qualify them for employment or further study.
The degree program offers basic, methodological and application-oriented training that qualifies them for routine psychological activities, particularly in the field of diagnostics. Possible fields of employment include research and rehabilitation facilities, psychosocial care facilities, training centers for professional development, and human resources, marketing, survey and media facilities.
Since not all graduates find a place in the narrower specialist job market, the acquisition of additional qualifications, such as those already taught in the area of general vocational preparation (ABV), as well as early orientation with regard to broader employment opportunities and the personal application strategy are of great importance for a successful start to a career.
For managerial positions or employment in research and teaching, a master's degree and, if applicable, a doctorate are a prerequisite.

The mono-Bachelor's degree includes the study areas of fundamentals, application, methods and diagnostics.
At the end of the degree, the exemplary deepening and differentiation of a field of study takes place through the independent scientific development of a self-selected problem (Bachelor's thesis).
The module or modules of the related area expand the specialist scientific spectrum. The selectable modules are catalogued in the study regulations.
The study area of general career preparation (ABV) includes a professional internship and the following competency areas: foreign languages, information and media competence, gender & diversity competence, organizational and management competence, personal and social-communicative competence and subject-related additional qualifications in which additional practical professional knowledge and skills are imparted. The goals, content and structure of the study area of general career preparation are regulated in a separate ABV study and examination regulation.
The structure and course of the study is regulated by the study regulations. It contains detailed descriptions of the content and qualification objectives of each individual module and an example course plan. The examination regulations define the type and requirements of the examinations for the modules. The regulations specify the credit points (CP) for each module or course as well as the workload in hours for the entire course.
