Psychology is an empirical science that deals with the experiences and behavior of humans in research and instruction. Psychological assumptions and theories are tested on the basis of observations and data from scientific experiments. The foundations courses focus on basic questions: How do people solve problems and make decisions? What makes each of us into a distinctive individual? The methods courses teach skills in the organization (planning experiments) and implementation of research methods (conducting interviews, diagnosing achievement and personality). In the practical courses, students acquire practical skills on the basis of the knowledge learned in the foundations courses, e.g., classification of psychological disorders, family counseling, or selection of personnel.

Based on the academic and extracurricular achievements of the applicants a ranking list will be created:

Average grade of higher education entrance qualification shown on the Abitur certificate
Completed vocational training in one of the training courses listed below or equivalent - Improvement of the average grade indicated in the Baccalaureate by 0.3 (thereafter no further increase (see next item) is possible!)
at least six months of continuous practical activity (also in the context of community service or a voluntary social year or in military service - here only in the medical field) in institutions from the following sectors: nursing, rehabilitation, care of the elderly, medical and educational care, education and training counseling, Public relations, communication, further education; In doing so, the activity must have a specific reference to the content of the institution. - Improvement in the average grade indicated on the Baccalaureate by 0.1
