The individual in his relationship with other persons is the subject of social psychology. Differential psychology focuses on the characteristics that differentiate an individual from other people; she strives to objectively grasp these features and to show her relationships. Finally, developmental psychology encompasses all of these branches by exploring the change in psychic features and functions over the entire lifespan.
The diverse fields of application, which include clinical, pedagogical and legal psychology as well as work and organizational psychology, are based on the findings of the aforementioned basic subjects. In addition to concrete substantive research results, the general principles of diagnostics, intervention and evaluation are conveyed. Because of the strong scientific-empirical orientation, empirical research methods and techniques have a high priority.
Therefore, as in other courses of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the Bachelor of Arts degree is not awarded, but the Bachelor of Science degree - and subsequently the Master of Science. The study consists of the basic psychology and an optional area, which offers the possibility for individual extensions or additions.
Psychology can also be combined as a supplementary subject to a core subject of the Bachelor of Arts of the Faculty of Arts.

In the module "Occupational Internship", the goal is to link the theoretical knowledge gained in the courses with initial practical experience. The module is planned for the third year of study. At the same time, students are free to choose which area of psychology they want to get to know better. The first year of study is mainly characterized by an overview and introduction to psychology (Module A) and the teaching of basic methodological knowledge (B, C). In terms of content, students here are familiar with the subjects general psychology 1, biopsychology, differential psychology and social psychology (G, I, K, L).
The second year of study will focus on Psychological Diagnostics (E, F), General Psychology 2 (H), Clinical Psychology (M), Work and Organizational Psychology (N) and Developmental and Educational Psychology (J, O). Another focus is the empirical-experimental internship (D), in which the implementation of an experimental study is practically learned.
In the third year of study, a work-related internship is usually completed (U). Areas of specialization are Clinical Psychology (P), Occupational and Organizational Psychology (Q), Legal Psychology (R) and the modules Change and Learning over Life Span (S) and Cognitive & Clinical Neuroscience (T). Furthermore, another non-psychological module is to be taken from the offer of the University of Bonn (Module V). The bachelor thesis (module W) completes the studies.

University of BonnWith 9,000 students, the Faculty of Philosophy is the largest of the seven faculties of the University of Bonn. It comprises eleven institutes and nine centers of humanities and social sciences. The Faculty of Philosophy is also involved in three transfaculty centers. Three museums are affiliated to the faculty.
The faculty presents itself today as a complex combination of philosophical, historical, philological and social science disciplines. Through the research and teaching of recognized scholars, she occupies a prominent international position in the academic world.
The broad spectrum of available subjects is also evident in a large number of highly differentiated research projects. The eleven institutes also have a large number of research areas, such as area studies, antiquity and its heritage, the European Middle Ages in transcultural comparison, media discourse and media performance in history and present, Germany and Europe in a global context. In addition, places of coordinated research are the cross-institute centers of the Faculty of Philosophy.
