Autonomously operating robots are currently embodying technological change and pushing into everyday life. They take on transport or monitoring tasks, mow the lawn or steer us through traffic. Ever more complex tasks that were previously reserved for humans can be mastered with more powerful sensors, methods of artificial intelligence, sophisticated mechanics and distributed algorithms. The robotics diploma course at the TU Bergakademie prepares future engineers to help shape this change and understand it as an interdisciplinary challenge.

Учебный план программы обучения "Robotics"

The course combines mathematical and scientific foundations with computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Building on introductory courses in mathematics, physics and chemistry, specific lectures on topics such as software development, embedded systems, artificial intelligence, virtual reality and machine learning follow in the course of the course. Further courses on automation technology, electrical engineering and sensors including sensor data evaluation generate a deeper understanding of the complex systems of autonomous robots.

On the application side, the topics of mining, geomonitoring, technology and the environment are open to the students, so that the robot system can always be described from the perspective of an application scenario. The study of robotics at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg is largely based on practical experience. Theoretical knowledge is expanded through a variety of laboratories and project tasks, which are then implemented with the RoboCup team at the Bergakademie. A practical semester completes this concept and gives insights into commercial tasks in an autonomous context.

Ultimately, the students gain a holistic understanding of autonomous robot systems and can use them to assess and master the challenges of individual applications. They are able to analyze, model, implement and evaluate complex systems in robotics using mathematical, IT, scientific and engineering principles.

    Our faculty is engaged in the foundations of a university of technology: together with domain experts we design models of scientific and technical processes, develop computational tools for fast and precise simulations and provide multi-media visualizations, for example in our state-of-the-art CAVE. We further research robots that support humans in challenging environments.
