The basis is the Bavarian Teacher Training Act, which regulates the school-specific training of teachers. This is the same at all universities in Bavaria and is divided into a university degree and a 2-year traineeship. The course is completed after 7 semesters of standard study time with the first teacher's examination. This consists of university exams that accompany the course and the first state exam (with a weighting of 2:3). The traineeship is already a paid part of professional life, concludes with the second state examination and does not necessarily have to be started directly after the first state examination.
The chances of being employed in the state school service depend on the overall grade from the two teacher training examinations. The combination of subjects selected for the course is irrelevant for the primary school teacher training course (LAGS), since the subject selection only determines the focus of the course. When you later work at school, the class teacher principle prevails: You teach many subjects. Current demand forecasts can be found on the homepage of the Ministry of Education.

- Ethics (at FAU only as an additional subject)
- Protestant religious teaching
- Geography
- History
- Catholic religious education (from FAU only as a didactic subject)
- Art*)
- Mathematics
- Music*)
- Physics
- Politics and Society (formerly Social Studies)
- Sport*) (courses take place in Erlangen)

In short, one could say: didactics is the science of teaching and learning. Here the students learn how teaching and learning processes are developed in schools, how they are theoretically justified and empirically researched. Primary school didactics includes the three didactic subjects as well as the area of primary school didactics, which is subdivided as follows:
- Primary education,
- Didactics of written language acquisition and
- Didactics of General Studies.
The following should be noted with didactic subjects: Anyone who does not teach English as a subject must provide proof of a foreign language qualification in English (level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference) by the time they pass the state examination. In addition, a basic qualification in art, music and sport is required (unless the subject in question is chosen as a teaching subject or didactic subject).
