Описание программы обучения "Theatre Studies"

At the Institute for Theater Studies of the Free University of Berlin, the three areas of contemporary theater, theater history as well as theory and aesthetics are examined. They are explored under historical, analytical, theoretical and aesthetic as well as comparative perspectives. An artistic or technical education does not take place.

The 60 LP module offer does not cover the entire subject of the study (see Study Structure).

Undergraduate graduates have scientific and practical skills that qualify for a professional or postgraduate degree.

The degree program in Theater Studies at the Free University of Berlin qualifies graduates through its theoretical-critical orientation for different areas of activity in theater, opera, film, television, radio, libraries, archives, universities, art associations, other cultural institutions, and publishers in public or private administration. Theater scholars can work especially as dramaturges, editors, editors, producers, and as freelance journalists.

For employment in research and teaching, a master's degree and, if necessary, a doctorate is required.
