With the Bachelor of Science in Transport Management Engineering (Vwing) course, you can obtain a first professionally qualifying, internationally recognized degree at a university (“first cycle degree”) in six semesters. The Bachelor of Science Vwing offers you a combination of transport engineering and economics. You will acquire interdisciplinary knowledge in the dynamic growth market of "transport". If you consider, for example, the expected doubling of freight traffic in the coming decades, it is understandable that innovative thinking engineers who develop and implement new solutions are in demand - without neglecting economic methods.

The Bachelor of Science Vwing should enable you to plan your professional career in this future-oriented industry. The course opens up a continuous education from the bachelor to the master with the possibility of a subsequent doctorate. But even without a master's or doctorate, there are good career opportunities in operational areas after successfully completing the bachelor's degree, e.g. in the local public transport sector or in transport logistics. The academic degree Bachelor of Science in Transport Management Engineering (B.Sc.) is a first professional qualification and can lead directly to professional activity.

It also entitles you to apply for the master's degree in transport engineering, which is also offered in Wuppertal, or for related, consecutive master's degrees in engineering and economics in Wuppertal or at other universities in Germany or worldwide. The bachelor's degree comprises 6 semesters of standard study time and is structured in modules (see module semester plan). In each semester, proof of performance with an average of 30 credit points in various modules must be acquired. The course is successfully completed when the candidate has acquired a total of 180 credit points in the modules required by the examination regulations. Knowledge is imparted in more than 20 individual modules.

In the advanced course, you can choose subjects from the field of transport engineering or economics, depending on your interests. A major focus of the course is on subject-related and interdisciplinary practical phases. This paves the way for later project work in professional practice.

The course ends with the bachelor's thesis, a scientific work in which the students should show that they can independently and successfully work on a problem from transport engineering using scientific methods. The topics are often assigned directly to planners, transport companies, administrations or clients from the field and are usually supervised across disciplines.
