Wind Energy Engineering

Our location predestines us, so to speak, to teach you everything about wind energy. Not only is there always a more or less stiff breeze blowing in our country, more than 8,000 people work in the wind industry in Schleswig-Holstein – we are far ahead in Germany. But also far beyond Germany, wind is one of the renewable energy sources with the greatest growth potential. In order to leverage this potential and create the energy transition, professionals are needed and we train them.

With your Master's degree in Wind Energy Engineering, you are well prepared for a career in Germany and abroad: two-thirds of our former students signed an employment contract after less than three months.

Учебный план программы обучения "Wind Energy Engineering"

In thefirst semester of your degree, you will lay the basics, for example with modules on the influence of environmental factors on the wind industry, technical mathematics andtechnical writing in English.

In the<second semester, almost everything revolves around wind turbines, from aerodynamics to tower structure, you build your strong engineering expertise further.

In the third semester you then select one of three main areas:

  • Mechanical Engineering
    Dynamics, materials and rotor blades
  • Electrical Engineering
    electrical machines and system integration
  • Structural Engineering
    Tower and structure design

All three areas include the project in which you develop a wind turbine together with other students. The result goes to an international competition for small wind turbines, which our teams have won several times in the past.

You will dedicate the fourth semester entirely to your master's thesis.

    Faculty 2: Energy and Biotechnology
    Flensburg University of Applied Sciences

    In Faculty 2, you can study courses on the topics of energy, biotechnology and process engineering for both Bachelor and Master degrees. In German and in English and partly in joint courses with Faculty 1.
