Учебный план программы обучения "Audio Design"

Audio Design: Sound Design in the Digital Age In the course of their studies, students get to know the basics of sound design, sound engineering and music. In the first four semesters, they gain aesthetic, compositional, sound design, sound engineering and music technology skills. From the 6th semester onwards, students develop these skills further and specialize themselves by choosing projects from the areas of music technology and art, music production as well as sound design and composition. Artistic individuality, individual support and practical implementation of what has been learned are key elements of the B.A. Audio Design programme. First Semester: The Basics - Theory & Practice I In the first semester, students dive into the world of audio design. They get to know basic techniques of audio engineering and microphone and recording techniques. In addition, students deal with the physical basics of acoustics and are introduced to common DAW systems (Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton Live). By carrying out practical projects, they deal with the dramaturgical, compositional and technical implementation as well as the effect of their own works and learn the basics of sound design. After the first semester, students will also have an understanding of the history of popular music. Students also receive instrumental lessons in piano in order to be able to use the instrument in their daily work and continue these lessons in the second semester. Second Semester: Basics - Theory & Practice II In the second semester, students learn more about music theory and can use their knowledge of sound design and composition for their practical projects. In the module Sound Studies, students analyse concepts and works of sound design and are also given an introduction to scientific work. They also learn the basics of digital signal processing and will be able to apply this knowledge in practice by using sound synthesis techniques. In the second semester, students also carry out an interdisciplinary practical project (e.g. with students of the B.A. Media Design). Third Semester: Applied Basics I In the third semester, students develop their own compositions, but also analyse current works. They deal with the basics of music production and get to know the everyday studio life of an audio designer. Students also design software-based musical instruments and interfaces. The Media Law module also teaches copyright law, trademark law and licensing. In the third semester, students also apply their knowledge in practical projects. Fourth Semester: Applied Basics II In the fourth semester students get to know the basics of arranging and deepen their compositional skills. In this semester, students also learn mastering, audio mixing and post-production in the studio. They deal with sound branding and sound staging for commissioned works by interdisciplinary agencies and also realise interdisciplinary practical projects with fellow students from other study programmes. The semester ends with an entrepreneurial project in the SRH Start-up Lab. Fifth semester – Internship/Study abroad In the fifth semester, students will either do an internship or exchange semester. The internship/exchange semester corresponds to a student workload of 750 hours and is credited with 30 CP. Sixth Semester: Specialisation & Practice I In the sixth semester, students choose a project from one of the following areas music technology & art, music production, sound design & composition and can choose their individual focus according to their own interests. These interdisciplinary focus projects are carried out in cooperation with the bachelor programmes Media Design and Creative Industries Management. Students also develop instruments, interfaces and installations in practical projects. Production techniques for 3D audio mixes and multi-channel systems as well as productions in the interplay of sound and space are part of the curriculum. In addition, students deepen their specialist knowledge with an optional module from the Department of Sound (Music Technology & Sound Design). Guest lectures and excursions also give students an insight into the creative strategies and organisational methods of companies and artists outside of their own projects. In addition, students learn about project organisation. Seventh Semester: Specialisation & Practice II - Bachelor Thesis In the seventh semester, students chose another project from one of the above mentioned areas, but usually carry it out as an individual project. A further specialisation is also possible in this semester - e.g. with modules such as Game Audio, Film Music & Dramaturgy or workshops with experts from the Department of Sound. In the seventh semester, students also impart their knowledge to younger semesters in basic courses and thus train their didactic and pedagogical skills. The final part of the semester is dedicated to the bachelor thesis.
