Anyone studying business administration for a bachelor’s degree at the HTW Berlin is in the best of company. Around 1,500 students are currently preparing for their degree in business administration on the Treskowallee campus. With good reason: This course at the HTW Berlin imparts all the knowledge you need for a successful career in business — or for founding your own company.

The business administration degree at the HTW is designed in such a way that you can choose to spend one or more semesters abroad if you wish. With this we want to ensure that you can gain international experience for your later professional activity during your studies.

For this purpose, the business administration degree also includes mandatory foreign language training in the second and fourth semesters, which can optionally be increased in the seventh semester.

During your studies, you can choose to complete one or more semesters at foreign universities and then continue your studies at the HTW Berlin. For this purpose, the HTW Berlin maintains cooperations with more than 150 partner universities worldwide to promote the exchange of students. Under certain conditions, the study requirements achieved abroad are recognized as part of the study at the HTW Berlin.

In the business administration degree, the sixth semester is designed as a mobility semesterfor your stay abroad and is therefore particularly suitable for a possible semester abroad. This semester you will find compulsory modules of the business administration degree, in which it is easier to get credit for study achievements completed abroad. Study contracts with the students can enable credit for study achievements completed outside of the HTW Berlin, usually amounting to 30 credit points, for an exchange semester.

As a university of applied sciences, the HTW Berlin places the employability of its graduates and thus the symbiotic combination of science and practice at the forefront of its courses. The goal of academic teaching is its feasibility in the professional environment. As part of the business administration degree, this practical relevance is achieved, among other things, by

• Business trips,
• Guest lectures by practitioners and researchers from other universities,
• Involvement of lecturers with practical experience,
• Mandatory internship as part of the specialization course,
• Participation of the students in competitions, e.g. in the EY Audit Challenge and the EY Tax Challenge, in which students of the business administration degree program have repeatedly taken top places,
• Joint participation of students and professors in specialist conferences, e.g. the Tax Advisor Congress.

The internship is generally completed in the 5th semester of the curriculum. It covers a continuous period of at least 80 working days (16 weeks) full-time. Public holidays do not count as working days and must be made up.

Internship abroad

In addition to studying at a foreign university, you can also choose to spend the specialist internship in the fifth semester abroad. The courses planned for the fifth semester in addition to the specialist internship are offered to students doing internships abroad in blocks during the lecture-free period, so that you can complete your internship abroad in peace and complete the courses planned for the semester during the semester break.
