The business informatics program deals with the development and use of information and communication technologies in companies and in administration. The focus is on:
- the architecture of business computerized information systems
- the planning and organization, as well as the methods of system development including programming of applications
- the management of the resource "Information".
Information and communication systems are described as socio-technical ("human machine") systems. They are used for the purpose of optimally providing information and communication according to economic criteria.

The Bachelor's degree in Business Informatics comprises six semesters and is divided into four sections. Based on general study achievements (area A) such as mathematics or statistics, you acquire subject-specific foundations (area B) in the three pillars of business informatics, business administration and computer science.
From the fourth semester you have the opportunity to set individual accents. You select according to your personal inclinations a range of over 20 optional areas (area C) from the three pillars. From Information Systems to Investment and Financial Management to Business Psychology and Ethics Management, there is a wide field open to you.
The thesis (area D) can be edited on a freely chosen topic from the field of business informatics at the universities as well as in cooperation with companies. It includes a practical study project and the academic preparation in the form of the bachelor thesis. With practice-oriented topics and the possibility to work in groups, theses are showpieces for career entry.
The Business Informatics program participates in the award-winning study 3.0 Project Humboldt Reloaded of the University of Hohenheim. As part of your elective course, you can take part in seminars that enable you to conduct research-oriented learning during your basic studies.
