Программа обучения "Chemistry" в Friedrich–Alexander University Erlangen–Nürnberg

Chemie

Chemistry is a fascinating cross-sectional science that plays a key role in both industry and research. The progress and innovation of a country are based on discoveries in chemistry: in chemical research laboratories, new materials and materials are being developed that decisively improve our everyday lives and quality of life. Chemical developments help other industries, such as Electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, agricultural technology and textile industry to new advances. Chemistry contributes to the development of modern nanoscale materials, product innovations and process optimization.

Описание программы обучения "Chemistry"

The content of the Master's degree program in Chemistry is based on the Bachelor's degree program, but is more research-oriented. The master's program enables students to deepen their basic knowledge of chemistry and to guide them to independent research. The Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree is another professional and research-qualifying degree in scientific studies. The language of instruction in the master's program is English.

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Chemistry"

Chemists are well prepared for everyday life in different professional environments when they leave university. Research institutes, universities, industry and public service offer a variety of perspectives for chemists. They improve products and processes in the industry or develop completely new products and processes. With scientific findings, they are often sources of pioneering, market-shaping innovations in the economy. In operation, chemists have to ensure that the products are manufactured on time and in high quality, with the lowest possible cost and material expenditure, in terms of safety and environmental aspects. In production and application engineering, chemists have the task of finding the best and most economical ways to use a product for the company's customers and to take the marketing into their own hands. They stimulate new developments and set the quality standards that a product must meet. The environmental protection associations also need specialists with chemical training.

Учебный план программы обучения "Chemistry"

The standard period of study in the master's program, including all examinations and master's thesis, is four semesters. 120 ECTS credits are required to successfully complete the master's program.

The Master's program in Chemistry represents a second phase of specialization. In addition to 3 core modules, specialization can be carried out within the framework of elective and elective modules. The compulsory elective module focuses on issues related to chemistry, and the elective module allows the acquisition of key qualifications or other subject-related competences.

The Master's examination comprises the three core modules, one of the five elective modules, as well as one elective module and one of the four specialization modules. (in each case in the scope of 15 ETCS points) The description of the individual modules is tabulated in Appendix 1. (see Annex 1) The specialization module can also be offered at a comparable university abroad. In addition, a master thesis is to be completed. In the master's thesis, the students should prove that they are able to independently, scientifically work on a problem from the subject of chemistry within a specified period of six months. The results must be presented in English professionally and in the current specialist literature. Only on application can the master thesis be written in German. A study start is in the summer and Winter semester possible.

    Faculty of Sciences
    Friedrich–Alexander University Erlangen–Nürnberg

The Faculty carries out both fundamental and applied research. This research is highly interdisciplinary, involving not only researchers from the Faculty’s departments but also experts from the Faculties of Medicine and Engineering, as well as other national and international institutions. The Faculty is involved in 7 of the University’s 8 Major Research Areas and has also established its own Research Focus Areas which cover a wide range of topics, from communication and signalling to molecular materials and geodynamics, geomaterials and georesources, representation theory, astroparticle physics and optics.

Its students receive an outstanding education in a variety of degree programmes which cover all of the key scientific disciplines, with 11 Bachelor’s and 14 Master’s degree programmes and teaching degrees (Lehramt) for the subjects biology, chemistry, geography, mathematics and physics. The Faculty ensures a close interlinking of research and teaching, allowing new knowledge to be passed directly on to its students. At the same time, students are given intensive support with their final theses which are highly research-based and contribute to the research progress. The Faculty of Sciences also runs the Bavarian elite degree programmes Physics Advanced and Integrated Immunology.
