To build and design an electric car, you need professional engineers who are also able to cope with the increasing use of renewable energies or app control. In the electromobility bachelor's degree at the Berlin University of Technology, you will learn all the skills you need to work successfully in this broad, exciting field of activity.

At the moment, the public is only beginning to see how electromobility and the increasing switch to renewable energies will change the requirement profiles for engineers in the economy.

In the future, experts will be sought who can solve demanding tasks in the fields of electromobility and power grids (with a high proportion of renewable energy sources). Interdisciplinary thinking and the ability to oversee highly complex, networked systems are required.

Experts are also needed in the field of services and IT solutions for all aspects of new mobility concepts. The bachelor's degree in electromobility meets these requirements and prepares students in a targeted manner in the required breadth and depth for successful employment or the master’s degree.

Due to the diverse course content, the graduates are preferably employed in the fields of research, development and project planning of devices and system components from the fields of drive technology, energy storage for renewable energies and control device electronics.

In the electromobility bachelor's degree, students receive interdisciplinary and professional training in all areas of electromobility. In the course of study, all subject areas are holistically linked, including the exercises in the laboratories. A complete system will be developed by one year of study through the project-oriented course, with the aim of participating in the international Formula Student design competition with a self-developed racing car in 2021.

The twelve-week practical phase rounds off the course. Exciting bachelor theses can also be carried out in innovative companies in the field of electromobility.

In addition to the high proportion of exercises, interdisciplinary learning content and key qualifications such as project management and teamwork are taught and practiced in everyday life during the course.

Graduates are able to process, develop, project and test complex problem solutions in an industrial area.

The course is so broad that entry into all areas of electromobility is possible.

Electromobility means more than swapping an internal combustion engine for an electric motor. It will change our society in the long term. In the future, electric vehicles will displace ever larger numbers of cars with gasoline or diesel engines. New mobility concepts such as car sharing, including autonomous driving, require intelligent electrical and information technology solutions.

To build and design an electric car, you need engineers with special skills and knowledge in the fields of energy storage, battery management, drive systems and power electronics.

An electric vehicle is a highly complex system that requires engineers to think systematically to a great extent. Electromobility can only work if our energy supply is also tailored to it. The increasing use of renewable energies requires an intelligent power grid, whereby the demand must be adapted to the supply.

The use of electric vehicles in temporary energy storage systems can help balance the supply and demand for electrical energy.

Everything will be controlled by the app. Electromobility students learn all the skills needed to work successfully in this broad and exciting field of activity.

The course begins with a basic section in which electrical engineering, mathematics, digital technology, programming and interdisciplinary skills are taught. The higher semesters deal with energy storage systems, drive technology, the development of control devices and the acquisition of programming skills, because electronics have to be programmed. That is true today and also in the future. We prepare you for it!
