The bachelor's degree in "International Relations" (IB) at the Center for International Studies (ZIS) at the TU Dresden is a genuinely interdisciplinary degree with the three equal (core) subjects of international politics, international law and international business.

The students are enabled to
• to analyze social, political, legal and economic structures and development tendencies in internationally highly intertwined areas of activity
• to obtain and process information independently and to interpret it on the basis of the acquired interdisciplinary knowledge
• to integrate different interpretations and subject-specific perspectives and to cooperate across subject and nationality borders
• communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in two modern foreign languages.

Like many other social science courses, studying International Relations enables you to enter a variety of different professional fields. Preferred employers of Bachelor graduates are - usually after completing a Master's degree: International organizations (such as the World Bank, WTO, IWF, ILO, UNESCO, etc.), institutions of the European Union, ministries (Foreign Office, BMZ, BMWI, etc.), Media, foundations, management consultancies, NGOs, global and regional companies as well as universities in Germany and abroad.

A semester abroad is a mandatory part of the bachelor's degree in International Relations (5th semester). IB students have the opportunity to apply internally at the ZIS for study places at the partner universities of the Center for International Studies, as well as for places at the TU Dresden via the International Office.

By passing the module examinations, the students acquire a total of 180 credit points (ECTS) (i.e. an average of 30 credit points (ECTS) per semester).

In accordance with the interdisciplinary approach of the course, the core subjects of international law, international politics and international economics must be taken in equal measure in the compulsory and elective areas. In the area of additional qualifications and with the bachelor thesis, the students can set a personal focus within the three core subjects.

Through intensive language training, students acquire the ability to communicate effectively in two modern foreign languages. You will study English and one other foreign language (French or Spanish with previous knowledge or Russian without the necessary previous knowledge). For foreign students, language training takes place in English and German, depending on previous knowledge.

Study semester abroad
The students spend the 5th semester at a state-recognized university abroad. There you will complete examinations that will count toward compulsory modules with optional content.

The proof of mandatory internships of at least 6 weeks (8 credit points (ECTS)) is one of the requirements for the bachelor's thesis in one of the three core subjects (6 credit points (ECTS)). Acquisition of the bachelor's degree.
