Программа обучения Mechanical Engineering

Программа обучения "Mechanical Engineering" в TH Mittelhessen University of Applied Sciences

Maschinenbau

Mechanical engineers supply complex technical products that are of great significance for all sectors of business and play a large role in determining Germany's overall economic performance. In 2014 approximately one million people were employed at Germany's numerous mid-size companies that supply machines and manufacturing systems.

The undergraduate course in Mechanical Engineering begins with the basics of the discipline, and students can then pursue one of three areas of specialization. The General Mechanical Engineering specialization topic includes the areas of design and industrial manufacturing, that is, the methods required to manufacture a product. The Vehicle Systems Engineering specialization offers a wide variety of modules from the fields of automotive engineering and automobile components. The Optics & Microengineering specialization area focuses on the design and manufacturing of components for the optics industry and microtechnology.

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Mechanical Engineering"

The course in Mechanical Engineering teaches students to recognize diverse problems in mechanical engineering and use the appropriate scientific methods to solve these problems. In this way they are able plan, develop and manufacture technical systems in their respective fields.

The education provided in the undergraduate course in Mechanical Engineering meets the qualifications requirements of many small and mid-size companies both in central Hesse and the surrounding region. Large companies involved in the corresponding sectors are also interested in our graduates. Examples here include the automotive and automotive supplier industries, machine building, microtechnology & optics, automation technology and sensor technology, as well as materials manufacturing and processing. For the Optics & Microengineering specialization area, the department maintains close ties with local and multinational companies in the optics and microtechnology industries including Zeiss and Leica.

Учебный план программы обучения "Mechanical Engineering"

The course in Mechanical Engineering encompasses a wide spectrum of core subjects of mechanical engineering and the natural sciences and links these with modern career oriented specializations in mechanical engineering. In the first year and a half students concentrate primarily on traditional core modules in mechanical engineering such as mathematics, physics and chemistry, mechanics, materials science, engineering thermodynamics and electrical engineering. The later stages of the course are characterized by application oriented modules in the three specialization areas. Since the modules are structured to guide students to their chosen area of specialization, students constantly pick up on the knowledge they've acquired, apply this to new questions and thus expand their knowledge base.

The career orientation of the course is supported by the following:

  • Career oriented forms of testing: project work in teams, preparation of project reports, presentations and colloquia
  • Numerous practical laboratory sessions and field trips
  • Research project cooperation between department institutes and companies
  • Opportunities for students to work on projects carried out in the department institutes
  • Internship semester at a company
  • Preparation of a final thesis based on work done at a company
