Ожидаемые результаты программы обучения "Motage/Editing"

In order to assert themselves in constantly-changing everyday practices, students should have acquired editorial skills in technical, aesthetic and social terms by the end of their studies. They should be qualified to work on the post-production of prime time series, TV movies, cinema films, documentaries, and cinematic essays.

Students should learn the effects of images and editing using their senses of sight and feeling, in order to strengthen their emotional intelligence. In doing so they will be able to adopt a position and act ethically. They should be able to communicate logically and effectively with directors, contractors, editors and producers, and see themselves as content and consulting managers, whose 'intellectual fathers' range from Aristotle to Shakespeare, Spielberg, and beyond. A true editor is not an operator, but rather a “consultant for dramatic editing solutions”. A role that cannot be performed by a computer.

BASIC STUDIES

Assembly is learned theoretically and practically. This is done in teaching through the presentation of films, scenes and excerpts and through verbalization during analysis.

The nine-semester training consists of two years of basic studies, two years of project studies and the diploma semester.

In the first year of the basic course, knowledge of scriptwriting, directing, camera and film design is imparted across disciplines, as well as an overview of the Avid and Premiere editing systems.

2nd YEAR OF STUDY

The second year is divided into two semesters, with the winter semester focusing on short documentary formats and the summer semester on scenic short films. Theoretical seminars, workshops and the term paper are tailored to this. Cooperation with other departments from the 2nd year is mandatory. The lecturers give an initial overview of technical processes and dramaturgical relationships and supervise the projects during the editing time.

Students go through the various stages of assembly: digitizing, scrapping, rough and fine editing, sound design, synchronization and mixing.

2ND YEAR: WINTER SEMESTER - DOCUMENTARY PART

Technical workshops. Basic courses in Avid Media Composer. DCP creation. Technical workflow. Dramaturgy. Assembly theory. Practical editing workshops with documentary material. Semester work: Montage of a documentary short film in cooperation with director 2 or film design 2. Supervision by the lecturers during the editing period.

2ND YEAR: SUMMER SEMESTER - SCENIC PART

Dramaturgy. Assembly theory. Perceptual Psychology. Practical editing workshops with scenic material. Semester thesis: Montage of a scenic short film in cooperation with director 2 or film design 2. Supervision by the lecturers during the editing period.

In the two years of the project study, the knowledge acquired in the basic studies is deepened in practical workshops and theoretical seminars. The goal is to develop and refine your personal attitude, your own handwriting and social skills.

The range of courses consists of seminars, workshops and lectures. In addition, students in responsible positions cut the work of their fellow students from the directing departments. The resulting film projects, like the interdisciplinary teaching, include close collaboration with students from other departments. The wide range of projects from the various departments (series, advertising, documentary, television journalism) opens up a broad spectrum.

PROJECT STUDIES: PRACTICE

Workshops in various genres: advertising, series, comedy etc., dialogue editing, sound editing

Big term paper in the third year. Various smaller projects (advertising, series, etc.) during the project study. Supervision appointments all year round with the responsible lecturers.
