The degree enables media technicians to work in all areas in which media are created or used. They are able to fill interface positions in industry, economy and administration in order to link the most diverse media. Media technicians are responsible for the development and design of media as well as for the associated information technology. Among other things, they develop technical solutions for media design, design special software and create image animations. Whether studying or doing an internship abroad: Stays abroad are increasingly a decisive recruitment criterion at the start of your career - because anyone who has spent time abroad is considered to be curious, open-minded and flexible.
To study abroad for one to two semesters, you can apply to one of the around 130 partner universities of the HTWK Leipzig. It is also possible to go to another university abroad as a so-called "free mover" and organize your study abroad independently or to integrate a shorter stay abroad into a course by attending a summer school.
In order to prepare you for your stay abroad linguistically, the University College: Business Unit Foreign Languages and Interculturality offers various language courses.

Structure
The study of media technology begins with engineering fundamentals such as mathematics, physics and electrical engineering. Furthermore, in the first four semesters, the basics in the individual sub-areas of audio and video technology, computer science, web development and basics in design, printing and content creation are taught. In addition, the students are given tools that enable them to manage projects, lead teams and think economically. After the broad basic training, an independent deepening takes place through corresponding elective subjects, which are further intensified after the internship in the 5th semester and lead to the final Bachelor thesis in the 7th semester.
In addition to the fixed course of study, the students also have the opportunity to realize themselves in one of the numerous projects, regardless of whether they use the in-house television floid TV, Campus Records or the Long Night of Computer Games!

Leipzig University of Applied SciencesThe production, distribution and mediation of classic and new media as well as the development of media and digital technologies in computer science, printing and media technology are the focus of the Faculty of Computer Science and Media. Their processes and influences on the economy, cultural history and society are researched and developed.
The faculty is located on the HTWK campus in the south of Leipzig. It is spread over the Lipsius-Bau, Gutenberg-Bau, Zuse-Bau and Medienzentrum buildings.

If certain subject-specific prior knowledge, such as e.g. completed vocational training or participation in subject-specific advanced courses, an improvement in the average grade of the university entrance qualification (HZB) can be achieved. The improved average grade (suitability grade) must not fall below 1.0 in mathematical terms.
