Ökotrophologie

The ecotrophology course is a practice-oriented, professionally qualifying course on a scientific basis. It combines natural, social and economic subjects. The course enables students to design and implement nutritional advice and educational offers for healthy and sick people, as well as to develop and test food, equipment and manufacturing processes. In addition to the organization of services in the catering and supply area, implementation and control of food safety and product quality are further focal points in the course.

The interdisciplinary focus of the course qualifies the ecotrophologists particularly to work at the interfaces of different service and production areas.

Possible fields of activity are nutrition education and nutritional advice in schools, companies and clinics, development and marketing of new products in the food industry, planning and organization of catering tasks in all forms of canteen kitchens or large events (e.g. in hospitals, canteens or in catering), monitoring and control of food safety in industrial production or in the catering sector.

At the beginning of the course, the basics in business administration, chemistry, social research and statistics, ergonomics, nutritional physiology, human biology, communication, psychology, sociology, food and nutrition theory, food science and process engineering, mathematics, physics , Technology, IT and scientific methodology conveyed.

During your studies there is the possibility to choose and deepen your focus according to your inclinations in the areas:

  • Nutrition and Health
  • Product and Marketing
  • Food safety and food supply

The course ends after six semesters with a 16-week internship and the writing of the bachelor thesis.
