Описание программы обучения "Psychology"

Psychology is a versatile scientific discipline that is omnipresent in our everyday lives and significantly contributes to a better understanding and prediction of human perception, decision-making, and behaviour. Psychological research helps to describe, explain, and predict how people think, feel, and act in an ever more changing world with vast economic developments, societal transitions, and environmental threats.

Thus, psychology must start to broaden its perspective from a narrow focus on intraindividual processes (e.g., focus on mental disorders or emotional disturbances of the individual) to a more comprehensive focus, integrating interpersonal, intragroup, and intergroup processes – which shape the transition to economic, ecological, and societal prosperity.

Учебный план программы обучения "Psychology"

The Leuphana Semester is the chance for an in-depth and fundamental engagement with science and academic methods. You hone your critical thinking skills so that you are able to question the familiar, learning how to select the right approach for systematic investigation and knowledge acquisition, and how to deal responsibly with scientific and academic findings. At the same time, you will be given an introduction to psychology. This means that you will gain some first insights into the basic psychological subjects as well as their application to practical fields within society. You will also deal with descriptive statistics and psychological measurement methods. Learning the principles of academic analysis, writing, and research in general, and the introduction to the major in particular, are the fundamental goal of the interdisciplinary Bachelor programme in psychology.

The minor is an applied subject that supplements and complements the Psychology major. You get to choose: The Psychology & Society minor focuses on applying psychological theories and processes in socially relevant contexts. In the Business Psychology minor, you look at psychological aspects that are particularly relevant in business and industry.

Complementary Studies is your chance to satisfy your thirst for knowledge by discovering a new field each semester, for example gender roles and spatial structures, Islamic law and design thinking. By moving beyond the boundaries of your own discipline and engaging with others, you develop an understanding of the diversity of academic and scientific cultures and acquire interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary skills.
