The aim of the course is to enable you to apply scientific methods and findings so that you can work professionally and responsibly in the diverse fields of social work and its interfaces with other professions. You acquire the ability to enable people to participate in society in a self-determined manner. As specialists in social work, you are concerned with offering services that enable individuals, groups or social organizations to enter into an active relationship with their environment, to exercise their rights, to recognize their needs and interests and to shape their way of life .

Important points of reference include the so-called International Definition of Social Work, the Global Standards for Social Work Education and the Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development.

During the course of study, you will receive analytical and reflective insights into a wide range of fields of activity and tasks in social work. The course of study is clearly structured and shown in the so-called modular construction kit. In the first three semesters you will acquire basic methodological skills and specialist knowledge. You will also get a first look at various social work facilities. The fourth semester is the practical semester. In the following three semesters you will deepen and expand your specialist knowledge and, in the sense of research-based learning, gain practical experience in key areas of study and reflect on and analyze it in accompanying seminars.

The practical professional orientation of the course is supported in the Bachelor of Arts: Social Work course by extensive practice-related parts of the course, so-called theory-practice units (TPE). This should offer you the best possible preparation for professional practice. In addition, in practice you have the opportunity to review your ideas with regard to future professional practice.
